The Floods

The other day me and the kiddies were playing happily in the basement. George comes running up to me telling me that Scarlet had spilled something. Thinking she was in the laundry room I went running. She was in the playroom minding her own business. I asked George where she had spilled and I stepped in it!?! So I went to check if she had and accident, but she was dry. As I looked around the playroom at the carpet I start to notice that there were some parts of it that the carpet was darker. As I walked around the room my feet start squishing in the water, our basement had flooded but where was the water coming from. Our house is on a hill and we don't have any window wells and it has not rained for a while. So I start to check the walls to see if the bathroom above was leaking but all the walls looked fine it was just the floor. So I go and check out the kids room and there is just as much water on their floor it is just different carpet so you can't see it as much. I call Spencer to see if he has any other great ideas of what could be leaking and he had just fixed one of our sprinklers out front. I go and check it and it is fine, I go to check the sprinkler box and the lid is floating on top. That was our problem, there was a river on the side of our house. I reached in and shut off the main line and come to find out our blow out valve had exploded and was spraying everywhere. Still we don't have any window wells so needless to say we have a crack in our foundation. We have been drying out our carpet and riped up the playroom and the lovely previous owners had just painted and carpeted over mold in the closet!?! Gotta love honesty in mold disclosure statements!! So we have a lot of work ahead of us, wish us luck!!

The kids room with the carpet ripped up, I think we will be able to save this carpet.

Another view of the kids room.

The playroom, I think this carpet is toast, I was not too attached to it. It looked like office carpet.

Ahh, the closet with the mold!?! Can't wait to see what is behind these walls!!

Demolition Derby

We were able to get the Kamas Demolition Derby tickets this year and it was so much fun. Besides the noise the kids loved it. It was a good year in the first heat a car got tipped over and on like the third there was one car that went right on top of the other one. Gotta love white trash entertainment. Besides the kids having to go to the bathroom like 7 times each(bathrooms on the opposite side) and Scarlet falling through the bleachers(we were only on the 3rd row) we had a great time.

The Studio

I love July, so much is going on. We went to the Rodeo, or as George calls it the "Studio", the kids loved it. George really wanted to ride the bulls like in some of his books until he saw the bull riders fall off and some of the bulls get really close to him. Not too excited about riding one then!? The kids looked so cute I went to Reams to get them outfitted for the months events. Scarlet would not take her boots off when we left so they were keepers!!

I thought this was so cute of the kids, they are all standing so cute. My dad got us rockin' tickets we had box seats right up front. So no one could walk in front of us and we had seats not just the bleachers. Definitely the way to go to an Ogden Rodeo.

I had to get a picture of Scarloo's getup, seriously I could eat her!!

Ruthie "Bumps" and George enjoying the Rodeo.

The fam at the rodeo, thanks dad we had so much fun!! You can't see very well but we all have on cowboy boots and Spencer has his tacky S belt buckle!!

George was so in love with his boots that he had to wear them home, he crashed.

Camping

This last weekend we had a bummer week so we decided to do something fun, so we went camping. We have never been so it was interesting, especially since I am 7 months pregnant. We went up Farmington Canyon to the Bountiful Peak Campground. We got a great spot where no one could camp near us and there was a table and fire pit. We got started setting up the tent and then made some yummy tin foil dinners. It was a lot of fun I think the kids got a kick out of cooking over the fire. But all they could think about was the marshmallows that were in the food crate!?! So we finally got the mallows out and they had so much fun roasting them and starting them on fire but not eating them. I enjoyed eating them for them so it worked out good, I like the fire ones!! They could not wait to get in the tent and play but we told them they could not get out till morning and they had to get in their Jammie's. They had no problem with this. So we started to get ready for bed and they were in their Jammie's and playing on their beds. They started chanting pat pat pat pat pat, and patting their legs. After this they took off like Rocket on Little Einsteins, their favorite show. They seriously were hilarious that weekend. It took a while to fall asleep but when we did it was fantastic, I have never slept that good, it was freezing out and it was perfect for a pregnant lady. The next morning we woke up and ate breakfast and went home. The kids had a great time that morning watching the "bunnies" they were some type of vermin. They loved it and I think we might do this again!!

Spencer trying to figure out Randi and Colin's tent!?!

The kids playing in the tent after we got it all figured out, very nice tent I am getting one this big when we invest in one.

For some reason this was very exciting, George and Scarlet visited this about 5 times each in the first 20 minutes!

Waiting for Spencer to get the fire started.

The kiddies roasting their mallows.

Watching for the "bunnies" while we got everything packed up.

Throwing some graham crackers at them.

They went exploring to find some too!

After we got home we took naps and got ready for the day and went up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Silver Lake for a Canoe ride. The kids loved paddling but I don't think the fishermen liked us very much. We were out on the lake for a while and then it started to rain so that ended the canoe fun. We had such a great weekend!!

Scarlet paddling with Spencer, she was very serious about it, she would not look at me.

She liked siting in the front with me!!

On our way out we saw this Moose, George wanted to feed it a Muffin(If you give a Moose a Muffin book).

Surfing!!

We went boating the other night for a few hours and we had great water. Spencer got to ski and we did some surfing. We were even able to get George out there and he did great. He was not so sure about the temperature of the water but be was a good sport when he got up on the surf board. I don't think Spencer could be any prouder of Georgie!!

You can not see it very well but George is posing with his arms out like surfers do!

4th of July

So this year was a lot of fun. We went to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast with my family and then went to the Kaysville Parade. It was actually quite good this year there were 5 or 6 real floats, kinda fun. George and Scarlet loved it and the weather was fantastic, you can not beat constant cloud cover during a parade!! Scarlet loved to point out the horses and wave at the princesses as they passed in convertibles. George was loving the Helicopter that flew over a few times and he liked watching the bands go by. He does a great air trumpet and trombone.

I don't know why we continue to invite him!?!

Scarlet waiving to the Princesses

Then we had a BBQ at out house with the Little's. It was a lot of fun to be able to finally have a back yard to play in. We had a bounce house set up for the kiddies and Spencer was able to set up his volleyball court. We ate and played volleyball till dark then watched some good fireworks and called it a night. I think the 4th is my favorite Holiday because it is so relaxed and just full of fun stuff!! Can't beat it, till next year America it was fun one this year!
